SEEKING FAQ'S

CALL 865-410-TOUR (8687) TO BOOK NOW!
Below is our compiled list of frequently asked question, queries and more.  If for any reason you don't see an answer to a question you are wondering, please email us at Info@SeekKnoxville.com or call 865-410-TOUR (8687).
  • What is Seek Knoxville?
Seek Knoxville is the area's first locally owned and operated scavenger hunt themed business, offering fun adventures in downtown Knoxville.  We strive to show people, whether they've been in the city 30 minutes or 30 years, that our gorgeous spot nestled in East Tennessee has something for all!

  • What is the price?
Our rate for any guest over 10 years of age is $14.99 (plus tax and fees) per person.  Children 10 and under are free!

  • Do you offer group rates?
Yup!  If you are booking at one time for a group of 8 guests or more, your rate will reduce to $10.99 (plus tax and fees) per person.  To receive group ratings/discounts, please call us at 865-410-TOUR (8687).

  • Do I have to buy tickets in advance?
Yes, you must purchase any tickets in advance by calling us at 865-410-TOUR (8687).  We offer a "you choose the start time" concept, where online purchasing is not available, instead you simply call us and let us know what works best for you!

  • Is there just one "standard" route, or do we have other options?
There are TWO different options available, strictly based on how much walking you wish to have.  We offer our standard/typical "entire" route featuring all the clues, puzzles, locations, etc. we originally came up with,  AND a shorter, more condensed version, that has about 5 less clues than the longer option.  The standard/normal route will take you about 3.5 miles total, and typically takes people no more than 3 hours to complete.  The condensed/shorter version is approximately 2.3 miles, and typically takes 1.5-2 hours max.  There will be no price difference or reduced rate for the shorter/condensed version, as each person will still receive their prize at the end regardless :)

  • Where does my scavenger hunt start?
You will meet a "guide" before you start to seek inside Visit Knoxville at 301 S. Gay Street, Knoxville, TN, 37902.  It is on the corner or Gay Street and W. Summit Hill Drive SW, next to the TVA building.

  • Where do I park?
Parking is free compliments of Visit Knoxville in the lot adjacent to them (on Gay Street).  You ONLY need to get a parking pass from inside Visit Knoxville if coming on a scavenger hunt on weekdays.  If coming on a weekday tour, go inside the Visitors Center, tell the front desk you are there for the scavenger hunt/Seek Knoxville, and BE SURE they write a parking pass until 5pm.  Normal parking passes are written just for 2 hours, but we get a special extension on ours, so unless you tell them to write it longer, it will expire after 2 hours, and you will risk getting towed.  *You DO NOT need to get a parking pass on weekend tours (Saturday/Sunday), as Visit Knoxville always offers free parking on weekends!   If all Visit Knoxville parking is taken, we suggest taking a right back onto Gay Street, taking a right onto Wall Avenue, and parking in Market Square garage, or taking a left off Wall Avenue onto Walnut Street, and parking in the Walnut Street Garage.  Parking is free in all garages on weekends, unless otherwise noted.  *There are new metered parking spaces rules in downtown Knoxville, and not all spaces are totally free on nights and weekends.  Please read HERE for a list of parking lots and garages, and HERE for the new rules about metered parking.  If you are having to pay for any parking, it will be self pay and not reimbursed.

  • How will I get started?  Will I be meeting someone before I start?
You will meet a "guide" from East TN Tours inside Visit Knoxville who will get you started, explain rules, provide your clue booklet, etc. before you can head out.  You will find them wearing a shirt with an East TN Tours logo on it, and usually some an area on a table set up with brochures, information, etc.  If you have any trouble finding where to go once entering Visit Knoxville, feel free to ask a staff member at the desk, and they'll point you where to go!

  • Is this a digital scavenger hunt, or how does it work?
This is NOT a phone based, digital type scavenger hunt.  You will receive a clue/puzzle/riddle booklet from one of our guides before you start.  We will provide you with any pens needed, but you must figure out what to write on as you go along (i.e walls, people's backs, sidewalks, etc.) as there is no clipboard provided (and that's part of the fun!).

  • Is there a minimum number of people required to run the scavenger hunt?
We do require at least 2 people signed up to run a seek.  If you are the first person booking on any given day, you will be required to select and pay for a minimum quantity of 2 tickets.  Single guests can be added on after the 2 person requirement has been met.

  • Will I/we be competing against other team(s)?  Can we do a seek on our own?
So here's how it works:  One example is that you and one other person (so 2 guests total) are the only ones booked for a seek that day. If that's the case, you don't have to worry about beating anyone to the final destination, and you can do the seek at your own pace.  Whether or not you want to try and get there as fast as you can is up to you!  Example two is that you have booked a scavenger hunt for 4 or more people, and you don't want to split up, and no one else is booked that day either.  Well, you can all stay together and move at your own pace like previously mentioned.  Example three is that you have booked a seek for anywhere from 2+ people, and there are more people (who you don't know) booked as well.  It's then up to you whether you want to have your group compete against any other team(s), or everyone can agree just to go at their own pace.  Even if any other participants don't want to compete against you, you are more than welcome to to split up your group (if large enough) and still race against each other.

  • Are the prizes given at the end/final location?
Yes!  Any guests who arrive to the final location by the end of the night (time varies based on day of the week) will receive a free gift from that establishment  (think something food related...).  If there are multiple teams that have split up, whether or not you have decided to actually try and beat them to the finish, the first team that arrives to the final location will receive an additional BONUS prize.  Again, if you don't care about racing against another team(s), you can still seek at your own pace, and as long as you make it to the end by the time your final destination closes that day, you'll obtain your complimentary prize!

  • How much walking is involved?  Do we have to run?
The total approximate amount you will walk over the course of your seek is about 3.5 miles.  This could change, either up or down, depending on routes taken.  Running through downtown (or any area) is NOT encouraged, regardless of how bad you really want to win.  Please use common sense when navigating urban areas, and obey all traffic signals.  We typically say this is an "urban hike" type experience, so it is generally recommended for those without walking problems, and are up for a good trek.

  • How long does a typical "Seek" take?
The standard/normal route will take you about 3.5 miles total, and typically takes people no more than 3-3.5 hours max to complete.  The condensed/shorter version is approximately 2.3 miles, and typically takes 1.5-2 hours max.  There will be no price difference or reduced rate for the shorter/condensed version, as each person will still receive their prize at the end regardless.  You can take as long as you'd like technically (well, as long as you arrive by the end of the night to your final spot to be sure to get your prize), but if you don't care about getting the prize, you can take as long as you'd like!  Shoot, you can even take a break(s) for drinks, dinner and more if you so desire!  Just be sure to at least plan on your Seek taking about 3 hours for the standard/normal route, and about 2 hours for the shorter/condensed route.

  • Are smartphones allowed to use to find clue answers?
Generally, we encourage you not to use your phone unless absolutely necessary to get help with riddle answers.  You can, however, use your phone's map/GPS system to get help navigating from one location to the next, if you're having trouble.  We actually promote you to ask your fellow passerbys (business employees are especially helpful!) to get help coming up with answers, getting directions, etc.

  • Is there any way to get hints if we're stuck?
We do have a built in "help line" available during your seek, that you can access by texting 865-245-4211.  Just tell us what clue you're stuck on/what you need help with, and we'll respond promptly.  There is no maximum amount of clues you can use (they are unlimited), but we'd like for you to use as few as possible, and get outside help, or just take longer trying to solve the puzzle, if need be!

  • Can I bring anything with me, i.e. drinks, snacks, etc.?
Absolutely!  We'd actually suggest you bring some type of pack/bag along with to carry drinks and snacks.

  • Are bathrooms available at any point?
There are several free restroom stops available during your adventure, and they will be noted on your clue booklet accordingly.

  • Can I take videos/photos?
Definitely!  We strongly encourage you to capture all the fun filled memories.  And be sure to tag us on social media at @SeekKnoxville

  • What if there's bad weather?
We will only cancel a seek on our end if we feel there is inclement, severe, life threatening weather.  However, if we have not called you to cancel your event, and you wish to reschedule for weather related reasons, you may call us to reschedule to another date, or get a full refund.

  • Can I bring a dog/pet with me?
Unfortunately, even though most of your scavenger hunt will be outdoors, some locations do require you to go inside buildings that do not allow pets.  So leave your furry friends at home (unless they are a service/certified dog)!

  • What should I wear?
Like any moderate walking activity outside, we'd suggest you wear comfortable clothing and shoes.  We'd encourage you to generally carry as little as possible, since what you bring will likely stay with you the entire time!
